On 22 August 2023, the Risk Management Quality Assurance (RMQA) team of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) held a seminar entitled “Pipette Calibration Standards and Practices”.
Thirty-nine participants from IRRI and the University of the Philippines Los Baños attended the seminar. The seminar featured Mr. Michael Floresca of Rainin Service as the resource person. Mr. Floresca is currently the Sales Manager for the United States West Coast region.
Mr. Floresca shared information on the limits of the responsibility of the user (inspection, cleaning, daily validation), as well as the operations that only a certified service provider can do (preventive maintenance service, calibration). He also showed the latest technologies that their company uses when calibrating pipettes.
Periodic preventive maintenance and calibration of pipettes and other precision instruments are necessary to generate quality data, verify results, and make informed decisions.
RMQA coordinated the seminar with Altech Vialab, represented by Mr. Oliver Veran, exclusive distributor and preventive maintenance service provider of Rainin pipettes in the Philippines
