The Transformative Policies and Investments (TPI) Unit of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) held a strategic planning workshop and retreat to review accomplishments, identify areas for improvement, and develop recommendations for future initiatives.
Led by Dr. Valerien Pede, the workshop kicked off with a mapping of year-end accomplishments and goal-setting activities for 2025. Highlights from the discussions covered the following action areas: (1) improving the unit’s mechanisms for Monitoring and Evaluation and implementing rigorous Impact Assessment; (2) leveraging Foresight and Gender and accelerating Climate Change Policy findings and initiatives; and (3) building a stronger Data Management and Advocacy strategy for the unit.
"The sessions made clear to the team that we must embrace fast-paced environments and be proactive in identifying and capitalizing emerging opportunities," shared Data Management Specialist Dehner De Leon on their significant takeaways from the planning, "we welcome the year ready to actualize teamwork, growth, and adaptability in our work."
The Transformative Policies and Investments (TPI) Unit is one of the International Rice Research Institute's strategic units that focuses on shaping global policies and directing investments to enhance the sustainability and impact of rice-based systems.
