Burundi: Progress of rice breeding assessed for ESA
The workshop was held for the seventh time and also aims to assess the progress of the reinforcement of regional breeding nurseries and exchange of promising breeding lines. It was opened by Joseph Nduwimana, permanent secretary within the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Burundi.
Participating were 32 delegates from Burundi, Benin, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Zanzibar who developed a seed road map each for their respective countries.
The workshop was organized by IRRI-ESA Regional Hub and was held at the University of Burundi in Bujumbura on 25-27 November 2013.
