LOS BAÑOS, Philippines, 24 January 2025 – The Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) is playing a key role in modernizing breeding programs across CGIAR, enhancing data management and decision-making for multiple crops. While initially designed to support staple crops like rice, EBS is now being integrated into the Alliance of Bioversity International - CIAT’s Forages Program, marking its first implementation within a crop program under the Alliance.

PhilRice and IRRI come together for RCMAS system upgrade

The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) recently conducted a two-day workshop on January 20-21, 2025, at its Central Experiment Station in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The primary objective of this workshop was to outline key priorities for 2025, with a special focus on the operational transition of the Cluster-Based Nutrient Management Recommender module within the Rice Crop Manager Advisory Service (RCMAS). Additional topics included updating RCMAS algorithms in line with the research findings and the transition to a Power BI-based dashboard for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL).

The International Rice Research Institute and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research – Indian Institute of Rice Research (ICAR-IIRR) recently held an intensive 5-day workshop on “Fundamentals of Genomic Predictions and Data-Driven Crop Breeding,” offering participants an in-depth understanding of cutting-edge techniques in modern plant breeding.
