To support the Kenyan government and KALRO’s efforts to improve rice production in the country by increasing farmers’ access to improved rice varieties, access to quality seeds, and advanced farming technologies, IRRI showcases its work under the AGGRi, SeedEqual, Market Intelligence, and ScaleDirect Initiatives at the Kilimo Biashara Expo where they won Best Exhibit.
KALRO Seed Director Mr. Robert Musyoki said that this Kilimo Biashara Expo aims to bridge the gaps in the rice value chain by connecting farmers to market leaders, research institutions, and government agricultural agencies. With the theme “Linking farmers to agricultural innovations for increased food and nutrition security”, they hope to help farmers grow and develop their respective counties by increasing and sustaining access to the right seed varieties in Central Kenya, specifically in Murang’a County.
